I recently installed a new pella back entry door and storm door.
Pella door lock problem.
Spray a silicone spray lubricant into the door s latch mechanism.
I cannot open my pella storm door step 1.
1 pella will provide parts or exchange at its option any door determined to be defective in ma terial or workmanship for a period of five 5 years from the original date of purchase.
In some instances you may notice that the pella door s frame is not level or is slightly out of.
Door does not fit tightly against weatherstrip.
Find the latch rail.
To identify whether or not your lock is a gu ferco look at the lock faceplatefor the gu or g u ferco logo shown in picture below.
Wipe off any excess lubricant with a rag.
Once the door is open operate the handle and turn the deadbolt.
This will loosen the tension on the deadbolt allowing it to retract and the door to open.
For the first 12 months this will be done at no cost to the purchaser and a reinstallation credit of up to 25 will apply.
Sliding door is difficult to open.
Over time the moving parts of the lock can seize preventing the door from opening.
If either does not operate when the door is open the hardware needs to be replaced.
To unjam the deadbolt remove the installation screws on the latch rail from the outside.
My problem is the storm door only closes correctly as long as the interior door is open or partialy open.
Pella no longer manufactures doors with these particular mechanisms but we can help you replace your lock if it breaks.
Twist the hinge rail screws a quarter turn each counterclockwise using a flat screwdriver.
Pella manufactures two types of patio doors in hinged and sliding varieties as well as main entry doors and storm doors many of which are fitted with locks.
If your lock is not a gu ferco lock this article will not help you.
